Akaishi Shokudo in Ishigaki's far north, near the Hirakubo peninsula, is a Yaeyama soba stop known for heaped vegetable soba, and it opens only Thursday to Saturday, 10:30–15:00.

Akaishi Shokudo sits on the road north toward Hirakubo, and reviewers on Tabelog describe waits of up to an hour for the vegetable soba and the big soki bowls. Its opening days have shifted over the years, and the 2026 listing shows Thursday to Saturday only. On a ride to the northern cape it is the obvious lunch, if the day lines up.
