Nakijin Gusuku Cherry Blossom Festival
今帰仁グスク桜まつりFestivalJanuary, FebruaryNago & Motobu
The Nakijin Gusuku Cherry Blossom Festival lights up the stone walls of Nakijin Castle (今帰仁城跡) while its kanhizakura are in bloom. The 19th festival ran from 31 January to 8 February 2026, and the 2027 dates had not been announced by October 2026.
OCVB listed the festival at the castle ruins with a light-up of the walls after dark, and Nago's tourism association names Nakijin Castle as one of the kanhizakura spots of northern Okinawa Island along with Nago Castle Park and Yaedake. The 2026 festival overlapped Nago's weekend and the last week of the Yaedake festival, so one day on the Motobu Peninsula can take in all of them.
Worth knowing
- Ask the castle about evening opening hours before you plan a night visit to the light-up.
