与論の十五夜踊FestivalMay, September, NovemberYoron
Yoron's Jugoya Odori is a harvest dance offered at Jinushi Shrine (地主神社) in Gusuku village on the 15th day of the third, eighth and tenth lunar months. The last 2026 performance is on Monday 23 November.
Yoron's tourism association describes the dance as a folk performing art that draws on both mainland Japanese and Okinawan traditions and adds a flavour of the island's own. Visitors can join the closing piece, Rokujū-bushi (六十節), when everyone dances kachaashii together. The eighth-month festival also has a tug of war open to visitors.
The performance goes ahead in light rain. Cars cannot enter the grounds, so use the temporary car park.
Worth knowing
- Watch the dancers in front of you during the last piece and copy their hands.
