Okinawa main-island taxis charge ¥630 to ¥650 for the first 1.65 km and ¥100 for each further 350 to 361 m in an ordinary car, within the fare range the Okinawa General Bureau set from 1 October 2026, and the GO app covers the main island and Kume-jima.
The Okinawa General Bureau sets a band for main-island fares, and each company chooses a step inside it. The band in force from 1 October 2026 puts an ordinary car at ¥630 to ¥650 for the first 1.65 km and ¥100 for each 350 to 361 m after that, with a time charge when the car crawls below 10 km/h. Large cars and the jumbos with seven or more passenger seats have their own, higher bands. Naha Airport's own estimate table for trips into town dates from July 2025, before this band took effect.
The GO app lists the main island and Kume-jima, and on Miyako, Shimojishima Airport points visitors to DiDi and the local Miyakojima TAXI app. The Okinawa Hire & Taxi Association lists each area's radio dispatch numbers and leaves the bookings to them.
Each outer island has its own small fleet. Shimojishima Airport lists 14 companies on Miyako-jima and Irabu, and Ishigaki's airport lists five radio groups. On Kume-jima two companies share the work, and Yonaguni's tourism association lists one taxi firm, which also runs sightseeing tours. Yoron's Minami Taxi runs two cars from 8:00 to 23:00, and Tarama, by Wikipedia's account, has none.

Worth knowing
- Phone ahead for a special large taxi if you're moving a bike box between the airport and your hotel.
- On Shimojishima the taxis wait for arriving flights, and the airport suggests booking in case they've all gone.
- On Yoron, arrange your hotel's pickup or a rental car before you land, since no taxi waits at the airport or port.
- The association doesn't dispatch cars; use its list of radio dispatch numbers for the area you're in.
