Shinri Beach

Shinri Beach sits 3 minutes by car from Kumejima Airport and is the island's sunset beach, with calm water, showers, a snack stand and a campsite, and planes landing and taking off close by.
Shinri sits beside the airport on the west side of Kume, and the town sells it on sunsets and on watching aircraft come in over the water. The water is calm enough for an easy swim. Showers, toilets and a parlour stand behind the sand, and the town runs a campsite here that you book through its Environment Division.

The beach looks west, and the sunsets carry on through the cool months. The tourism association describes December to February as mostly cloudy with a strong north wind, miinishi, that makes 15–20 °C air feel colder. The Japan Meteorological Agency's 1991–2020 normal for the sea south of Kume-jima sits at about 22 °C in February.
