The Ryukyu Shimpo reported in December 2019 that Washima's yawara kuruma-ebi soba had won the grand prize at a Japanese food competition in Singapore, and reviewers keep ordering it. Reviews run right through the winter, with five visits logged in February 2026. Nishime sits on the north-west side of the loop, so it makes a lunch stop on a ride round the island.
