Sukuji Beach near Kabira is the family swimming beach of north-west Ishigaki: shallow, with a jellyfish net, lifeguards in season, showers and toilets. It sits a few minutes west of Kabira Bay, where swimming is banned.
Ishigaki City's tourism site describes Sukuji as a beach islanders use themselves. It is shallow enough for small children and has showers, toilets, a jellyfish net and lifeguards. In summer snorkel sets go out for hire and a kiosk and a ramen stall set up on the sand.
The bottom shelves so gently that low tide leaves a long walk to swimming depth. It faces north-west, which makes it a good sunset stop on the way home from Kabira.
