Shima no Ushi Ishigaki-ya

Ishigaki-ya in Maezato, east of the town centre, has grilled Ishigaki beef since 2000 in a dining room of 300-year-old Yoshino cedar under Ryukyu red tiles, and it uses only heifers, according to the city tourism association.

The Ishigaki City Tourism Association's listing describes the room as built from Yoshino cedar three centuries old under traditional red tiles, and says the kitchen works only with female Ishigaki beef cattle. The restaurant seats 90 and has a car park for 30, which makes it easier to reach than the downtown rooms. Lunch costs a fraction of dinner.
