Euglena Mall

The mall calls itself Japan's southernmost covered shopping street, and the central shopping street association runs it. The company Euglena bought the naming rights in 2010, and the paving carries a Yaeyama minsah weave pattern. The street grew around a fish market set up in the Meiji era, which later became the public market.

The Ishigaki City Public Market sits in the middle of the arcade with butchers, fishmongers, kamaboko makers and fruit stalls on the ground floor and souvenirs above. It reopened in May 2021 after a rebuild of its old basement, with an eat-in space for what you buy.
