Yunta Ichiba farmers' market
ゆんた市場26°24′ N 127°45′ EMarketGood ride stop
Yunta Ichiba is Yomitan's farmers' market in the village's Kina district, open 9:00 to 18:00 almost every day, with island vegetables and Okinawan bento, and free parking. Popo no Mise Hitotoki next door sells Yomitan's traditional rolled pancake.
The name joins yuntaku, Okinawan for a good chat, with Yuntanza, the old name for Yomitan. The shelves carry goya, tomatoes, shima-rakkyo, handama greens, yams and beni-imo, along with lunch boxes and snacks. In the same building, Hitotoki makes popo, the thin rolled pancake of Yomitan's Sobe district, plain or filled with sweet potato or red bean, from 11:00 to 16:00 (14:00 on Saturdays) on irregular days.
What to order
- A popo from Hitotoki
- An Okinawan bento
