Bios Hill is a subtropical garden park in Uruma's Ishikawa district where a boat takes visitors around a jungle lake, and entry costs ¥2,200 for adults and ¥1,100 for children. It opens 9:00 to 17:30 on most days, and families come for the water-buffalo cart and the big swings.

The park is built around orchids and subtropical forest, with a lake at the centre. The lake boat is included in the ticket and takes visitors past the jungle edges, and the extras include a ride in a cart pulled by a water buffalo and a canoe on the lake. Uruma's tourism association points families to the big swings in the park.
Small dogs under 10 kg are welcome on a lead, and the park rents strollers and wheelchairs at the entrance. Umbrellas are on loan at three points in the park, so a passing shower need not end the visit.
Worth knowing
