The race doubles as the Yaeyama district triathlon for island residents. The 2026 edition went ahead on a day forecast to reach 29 °C, and the bike-mechanic service filled its reservations before the weekend, leaving a walk-up lane for anyone without a slot. In 2024 the bike and run courses ran under one-lane traffic restrictions from 7:50 to 14:00.
Road-bike rentals on Ishigaki fill for race week. Pottering Okinawa had closed its 2026 race bookings by race time, and Happy Pedal hands its bikes over the day before without aero bars.
