Motobu beef
もとぶ牛IngredientYear-round
Motobu beef is Japanese Black wagyu that Motobu Farm raises in Yanbaru on the north of Okinawa's main island, and the cattle eat fermented lees from Orion beer. You eat it at the company's own yakiniku restaurants in Motobu, Nago and Naha, and the Motobu tourism association credits the beer-lees feed with a sweet edge to the fat.

Motobu Farm calls its beef the brand beef of Okinawa and describes it as fibrous with a gentle sweetness. The Motobu tourism association adds the detail that matters: the cattle eat fermented feed made from the lees left over from brewing Orion beer, and the association says the fat and lean balance into a sweetness it calls exquisite. The farm sits in Yanbaru on the north of the main island.
The company sells the beef through its own restaurants. The Motobu branch in Ohama takes the ground floor of the Motobu Industrial Support Centre and opens every day for lunch and dinner, with a Motobu beef hamburg steak and steak curry at lunch that cost much less than an evening of yakiniku. The farm lists further branches in Kumoji and Matsuo in Naha, in Nago, and a certified counter inside AEON Town Miyako-minami on Miyako.
