New Ishigaki Airport (ISG, branded Painushima Ishigaki Airport) sits on Ishigaki's east coast, 25 minutes by taxi or 32 minutes by Azuma Bus route 4 from the Ritou ferry terminal, with buses every 30 minutes for ¥550, a bike-assembly Cycle Station by the bus stop, and flights from Naha, Miyako, Yonaguni, the mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Seoul.
The airport has separate domestic and international terminals side by side, and everything you need on arrival is on the domestic ground floor: bus stop to the left of the central exit, taxi rank to the right, and the rental shuttles across the crosswalk in the car park. JTA, RAC, ANA and Solaseed (jta, rac, ana, solaseed) fly from Naha, RAC and ANA from Miyako, and RAC from Yonaguni. First Flying (第一航空) flies to Tarama and Hateruma. JAL and ANA come in from Haneda, Peach from Narita, Kansai and Fukuoka, and the international terminal handles HK Express, Tigerair Taiwan and Jin Air.
Into town, Azuma Bus route 4 leaves every half hour and reaches the Ritou Terminal in 32 minutes for ¥550, and Karry Kanko's direct bus also runs every half hour at the same fare. Route 10 loops past the Art Hotel and ANA InterContinental five times a day, and route 11 runs straight to Kabira at 12:15 and 15:00. A taxi to the ferries costs about ¥3,500 by the airport's estimate.
