Painagama Beach lies a short walk from central Hirara and has habu-jellyfish nets from 1 April to 30 October.
Painagama is where Hirara swims after work. The beach sits on Route 390 a short walk from the hotels, and the Painagama Umi-Sora Sukoyaka Park behind it opened on 1 October 2017 with lawns, pavilions where barbecues are allowed and a 700 m path. The city sets habu-jellyfish nets through the season, which Japanese Wikipedia dates from 1 April to 30 October.
It suits a family on a Hirara base or a rider who wants a swim to loosen up after the bridges. Water tests rated it AA in 2017. Come at sunset when the locals walk the shore.
