Locus opened in 2018 and calls itself Miyako's signature design hotel. All 100 rooms look over the harbour at Shimozato on the Hirara waterfront, and Painagama Beach is a few minutes away on foot. The hotel has an outdoor pool, and its top rooms carry the name Premier Pool Terrace. Breakfast is at Locus Table.
Hirara puts the Irabu Bridge a short ride west and the town's izakaya a short walk away after dark. The hotel rents electric bicycles.
