kukuru cafe is a small outdoor café in the Minami hamlet of Hateruma village, a minute south of the Minami co-op store and about 2 km by bicycle from the port, open 10:00–14:00 except Thursdays.
kukuru cafe opens for four hours a day and not always on schedule: a January 2026 reviewer had passed it shut on several earlier trips. When it is open you eat outside in the village, with curry and shaved ice on the board, and Tabelog marks it for vegetarian choices. It lies 10 minutes by bicycle from the port in the eastern half of the village. Cash only.
