Awanami Saketen is a liquor shop in Hateruma village, 16 minutes' walk from the port, that sells the island's scarce awamori Awanami one small bottle per person when stock allows.

Awanami comes from the Hateruma distillery in small batches, and Wikipedia puts output at about 6,000 small bottles a month with nine-tenths drunk on the island, so shops ration it. This shop sells one 2-gō bottle per person when it has stock, and closes for a long lunch from 12:00 to 14:30 and all day Sunday. Tabelog reviews from July 2025 and March 2026 show it still trading. Bring cash, and expect an empty shelf some days.
