Ohara Port on the south-east coast of Iriomote is 40–45 minutes from Ishigaki, sails more often than Uehara in north wind by Anei Kanko's account, and in winter it takes the Uehara passengers when the north-coast route is cancelled.
Ohara is the port that keeps working in a northerly. Anei Kanko explains that the Uehara route crosses open sea and cancels more often, and on rough days both companies route Uehara passengers here with connecting buses. Yaeyama Kanko Ferry sails six times a day each way in winter 2026/27 and Anei three, adding a 7:30 from Ishigaki when Uehara is shut.
