Tsuken Port is the harbour on Tsuken-jima off the Katsuren peninsula, where Kamiya Kanko's boats from Heshikiya in Uruma land five times a day in 15 to 30 minutes, and the last boat back to the main island leaves at 17:30.
Kamiya Kanko's window inside the Carrot Island Marine Terminal sells tickets for cash on the day only. The waiting room is barrier-free, with a multipurpose toilet and a rack of Tsuken tourism brochures. Boats leave Tsuken at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:30, and the first and last of those normally run on the high-speed New Kugani. The company warns that there's no ATM or convenience store nearby, so bring enough yen for the ride back and a bike.

Weather and cancellations
Kamiya Kanko's operating standard stops sailings at 13 m/s of wind, 2 m waves or visibility of 500 m or less, and it notes that the tide level can affect the ferry. The company makes the final call on the morning of sailing and posts the status on its website. Rain alone doesn't cancel a boat.
Worth knowing
- Buy drinks before you board, because neither boat has a shop or vending machine.
- Phone Kamiya Kanko on 098-978-1100 before bringing a bike on a weekend or holiday, when cars and cargo can fill the deck.
