The American Village seawall is the free waterfront promenade in Chatan that runs from Sunset Beach past the Depot Island boardwalk to the Fisherina marina, and a flat walk or ride north follows the seawall on to Sunabe. People gather on its benches for sunset, and fireworks go up over the water every Saturday at 20:00.
Mihama's waterfront faces due west, so the whole strip turns into a sunset stand each evening. The path leaves Sunset Beach, runs along the Depot Island boardwalk below the cafés and continues to the Fisherina marina, and Chatan's tourism association notes it as a favourite with joggers. Every Saturday at 20:00 local businesses set off fireworks over the water, and in 2026 they added Fridays from 24 July to 26 September.
Keep going north and the seawall leads to Sunabe on the Miyagi coast, about 15 minutes on foot. Divers crowd the seawall on weekends, surfers paddle out when a swell runs, and the cafés along the wall sell drinks to take out for sunset. In Sunabe Baba Park, a monument with a relief of a grieving mother marks the beach where US forces came ashore in 1945.
