Shigira Beach is the resort beach at Miyaguni in Ueno, where anyone can park free and snorkel over dozens of coral types and more than 100 fish species.
Shigira Beach sits next to the Shigira Bay Sweet Allamanda hotel and the tourism association likens it to a private beach; parking is free. The city counts dozens of coral types and more than 100 colourful fish species off the sand, and sea turtles turn up at times. Showers and a kiosk sit by the car park.
It is the easy snorkel for families based at Shigira, with the Shigira Beach House running guided trips. Afterwards, the local diner Hirochan inside the resort area feeds snorkellers soki soba.
