Tokashiku Beach is a calm, roughly 800 m bay on Tokashiki-jima's west coast known for sea turtles, with lifeguards from 11 April to 30 November in 2026; no bus serves it, so you reach it by taxi, scooter or bicycle.

Tokashiku curves in a half-moon of about 800 m between the port village and Aharen, and Japanese Wikipedia notes it draws fewer visitors than its neighbour. The Ministry of the Environment singles out the sea turtles here, in calm, clear water that suits a first snorkel. The Japan Tourism Agency warns that the name Tokashiku is easy to confuse with Tokashiki.
Teruyama lookout stands on the ridge between Tokashiku and Aharen and overlooks both bays. Offshore, dive boats visit Uminchu, an artificial reef where the visitors bureau lists spadefish and saddleback clownfish. Since no bus serves the beach, a rental bicycle from the port lets you ride on over the ridge to Aharen in the same day.
Before you swim
