Irabu Ryori Kana in Kitanakagusuku serves irabu-jiru (sea-snake soup) on Friday and Saturday nights by reservation only and takes cash only.
Kana specializes in irabu-jiru, which the Ryukyu court once ate, and the Okinawa Convention and Visitors Bureau listing updated in September 2026 calls it a long-running specialist. The kitchen takes three days over the soup. It simmers the dried sea snake for about five hours, takes out the bones, shapes it and cooks it again. The OCVB says the flavour comes close to katsuobushi, and Okinawans have long credited the soup with cleansing the blood.
Book by phone for a Friday or Saturday evening. The Yagibaru bus stop is a four-minute walk away, and the drive from Naha Airport takes about an hour on local roads.
