This is the shortest hop in the Yaeyamas and the busiest. In the winter 2026/27 timetables Yaeyama Kanko Ferry runs 10 boats a day and Anei Kanko 8 from Ishigaki, from 7:30 to 17:30, and the fare is ¥970 one way with either company. Tickets aren't interchangeable, so buy a return from the company you'll ride home with.
For a bike, choose your company with care. Anei loads a non-electric bike on its high-speed boats for an extra charge when there's room, and Yaeyama Kanko Ferry takes one only in a rinko bag. Renting a bike on Taketomi saves the trouble, and our outer-islands cycling guide lists the shops.
