Yoron Diving Service dives all year by moving to south-coast sites in the winter north wind, and it charges ¥14,000 for two boat dives including pickup. The Yoron Tourism Association calls it the island's oldest dive shop.
Owner Naoto Takeshita is a fisherman, and the tourism association says his guiding draws divers who like terrain as much as fish. The sites on the shop's list run from the Underwater Palace to the wreck of the Amami, and most are a 10- to 15-minute ride from port. The rates include pickup, which matters on an island where no bus or taxi meets the planes.
Bring a lunch on a three-dive day, since that one doesn't include it. The discover scuba is for ages 15 and up and comes with free photos.
