ASMUI Spiritual Hikes near Cape Hedo leads walkers through 250-million-year-old limestone karst on a 60-minute main course for ¥2,500 per adult in 2026; until December 2024 the site was called Daisekirinzan.
Rain and time have carved the limestone into grey blades and towers, and Wikipedia calls the place the northernmost tropical karst in the world. The ridges belong to Asumui, where Ryukyuan myth says the creator goddess Amamikyo first came down to the islands. The operator renamed the site ASMUI Spiritual Hikes on 28 December 2024 to put that name forward.
A shuttle runs every 20 minutes from the ticket office to the start of the trails. The regular course takes about 60 minutes and the short course about 30, and you can walk back down the banyan road in half an hour or ride the bus. Plan 90 to 150 minutes in all, including a stop at the Spirit Lounge, where a soba restaurant now serves lunch.
Worth knowing
- Okinawa residents get half price on show of proof of address; visitors pay the full ¥2,500.
- Buy the ¥500 utaki stamp at the starting point if you collect shrine and sacred-site seals.
- On 1 January the site opens at 7:00 for New Year's sunrise visitors, according to its past posts.
