You ride a small cart up through a garden to reach the tower, and the view from the top runs the length of the Kouri Bridge back to Yagaji. The site also keeps a shell museum with more than 10,000 shells, heart-shaped ones included. Oceancafe serves Neapolitan-style pizza and Restaurant Island Blue cooks with Okinawan ingredients, so the tower doubles as a lunch stop on a Kouri lap.
The tower closes for typhoons and checks the bridge approach before it reopens. After Typhoon 18 in August 2026 it reopened at 10:30 on 27 August. In winter it keeps its 10:00–18:00 hours, and the late light comes earlier, so arrive by about 16:00 for the best of it.
Worth knowing
- Children under 6 go free, which makes this an easy add-on for families crossing to Kouri.
- Check the tower's news page after any typhoon warning; it posts closures and reopenings there.
