The Terrace Hotels opened its sixth Okinawa hotel, and its first on an outer island, in the building of the Akajima Marine Science Laboratory. The coral lab still works from the ground floor. Twelve rooms come in five types, from a 26 m² king room up to an 82 m² two-bedroom suite on the fourth floor, and every type below the big suite has a shower booth in place of a bathtub. There's a rooftop terrace, and the hotel's own farm grows goya and winged beans out front.
Staff collect guests from Aka port and drive them out to Nishibama Beach, which is 25 minutes away on foot. Divers get a free gear room with a rinse area on the ground floor, and the hotel points guests to Seasir and El Azul for diving.
