Kouri Beach
古宇利ビーチ26°42′ N 128°01′ EBeach
Kouri Beach sits at the island end of the Kouri Bridge on Kouri-jima, where about 300 m of sand on the west side gets a summer swim area and paid showers stand nearby.
The bridge splits the beach in two. The main beach lies west of it, about 300 m of sand with a swim area marked out in summer, and the smaller east side is quieter. You can walk under the bridge between them.
Toilets, paid showers, shops and lunch all sit at Kouri Fureai Hiroba a few minutes up the road, which makes this the easiest natural beach on the island. Summer brings crowds of swimmers. In winter you can have a stretch of sand to yourself and look back along the bridge to Yagaji.
