Goya serves island cooking in Nishizato with a live set of Miyako and Okinawan folk songs, and 2026 reviewers say a booking is close to essential. It is also the easiest place to see otori, Miyako's round-drinking custom. One person, the oya, stands and makes a short speech, drinks a cup of awamori, then refills it and passes it to each person in turn, who drinks it down and hands it back; when the circle closes the oya names the next one. Japanese Wikipedia says anyone who doesn't drink may decline and adds that few guests hear about that rule, so say so early and switch to tea.
What to order
- Island dishes to share with a jug of awamori mizuwari
- Stay for the sanshin set
