SEALOVERS works out of a shop in front of the Maeganeku bus stop, a five-minute walk from the harbour, and the boat reaches the Blue Cave at Cape Maeda in about five minutes. Non-swimmers and small children can stay aboard to the mouth of the cave, and the guides hand out fish food and take underwater photos you collect on a memory card at the end. The company says the Okinawa Public Safety Commission has recognised more than 20 years without an accident.
Guides brief in simple English with photo cards in English, Chinese and Korean. The same company runs a gentler mangrove and sea kayak on the Okukubi River in Kin, which suits children from age 2. Buses 20 and 120 from Naha stop right outside the shop, about 90 minutes from the city.
