Ocean Expo Park in Motobu is a free national park that commemorates the 1975 Okinawa International Ocean Exposition, and the Churaumi Aquarium and Emerald Beach both stand inside it.

The park runs along the Motobu coast below Route 114, and you can wander its lawns and seaside paths without paying anything. The Tropical Dream Center glasshouses cost ¥760 and the Oceanic Culture Museum ¥190, both cash only, and children of junior high age and under go free. Every attraction sits some way from the car parks, which the park itself warns about, so a paid tour car shuttles between the gates for anyone with small children in tow.
From 1 July 2026 to 31 March 2027 the park is trialling a partial opening every Wednesday. On those days the Tropical Dream Center, the Oceanic Culture Museum and the Native Okinawan Village with its Omoro Arboretum shut for maintenance. The aquarium, the dolphin and turtle pools and Emerald Beach carry on as usual. Plan a February visit for any other weekday if the gardens matter to you.
Riders can treat the park as a long, flat breather on a Motobu loop. Lock up at the South Gate, where five spaces are set aside for bicycles, and walk the seaside promenade north toward Emerald Beach and the edge of Bise.
Worth knowing
- The South Gate car park is the one with bicycle-only spaces, and it sits closest to the tropical urban greening garden.
- Bring cash for the Tropical Dream Center and the Oceanic Culture Museum; neither takes cards.
- Free-entry days in 2026 include 10 and 11 October at the Tropical Dream Center and Oceanic Culture Museum.
