Fukugi-ya at the entrance to the Bise fukugi lanes serves Okinawan home cooking in a converted old house at lunch only, 11:30–14:30, and closes on Thursdays.

The house is a kominka with tatami on raised platforms, and the menu sticks to the Okinawan home table: soba, goya champuru, yushi tofu, takikomi rice and taco rice. A reviewer who came just after 13:00 on an August Sunday took the last seat, and the people waiting behind were in quickly as tables turned over. Booking online fixes a time between the aquarium and a walk under the fukugi trees, which start at the door.
