Hoshinoya built its 48 cottages to Taketomi's own landscape rules: Ryukyu limestone walls, gardens of white coral sand and a south-facing living room for the breeze. Each takes up to three. The 46 m oval pool sits in a hollow that no house in the village can see into, and it is heated to suit the season and open day and night. A car meets every ferry at Taketomi port without a booking.
A scheduled shuttle runs to the village and the beaches from 10:00 to 17:00. The hotel doesn't lend bicycles, so hire one in the village for a lap of the island. Dinner is a French course of Yaeyama produce at ¥18,150 a head, and from 1 December an in-room hot pot joins the menu. The winter wellness stay built around *nuchigusa*, the island's medicinal herbs, runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 May 2027.
