Okuma Private Beach & Resort

Okuma is marking 45 years on Okuma Beach, whose natural white sand is now rare on the main island, with a white pier that everyone photographs. The resort sits in Kunigami inside the Yanbaru area listed as World Natural Heritage, and its Grand Cottages have just been renewed. Jalan's 1,380 reviewers give it 4.7 out of 5, and it took first place among Okinawa resorts of 101 to 300 rooms in Jalan's guest awards. The drive from the airport takes about 100 minutes by expressway, and a free shuttle bus runs once a day from Naha.

From November to February all four pools are shut, and the beach desk keeps shorter hours, 9:00 to 17:00. The beach season reopens with the Okuma Kariyushi beach opening in late March. For riders the resort sits well placed on Route 58 between Hentona and Cape Hedo, with paid rental bikes and a paid drying room. Send a bike box ahead to the hotel, and ask about a place for the bike itself.
