Kohama-so stands in Taketomi's preserved village, and the Fujii family has run it since 1965. Mr Fujii cooks, and the dinners have a good name on the island. Awamori comes free with the meal, which sets up an evening of *yuntaku*, Okinawan chat, in the house. All eight Japanese rooms are non-smoking.
The inn's own pages say a rented bicycle gets you round Taketomi's 9.2 km in under half a day. Pickups start from the 9:30 boat out of Ishigaki on the Yaeyama Kanko Ferry; call 20 minutes before you sail. Jalan listed rooms from ¥11,800 for two in October 2026.
