The Taketomi tourism association calls Takana the oldest inn on the island, and the novelist Shiba Ryotaro once stayed. Sisters Keiko and Hiroko Takana run it opposite the post office, about 15 minutes' walk from the pier. Their van, the Takana-go, meets your boat if you phone ahead. A youth hostel sits alongside the 18 rooms, and the souvenir shop Takanya belongs to the family.
Dinner is the reason to come, and Jalan reviewers score it 4.6 out of 5. Some nights a grandfather takes guests out after dinner to look for coconut crabs. The inn also runs hands-on sessions in sanshin and in making *jimami* peanut tofu. Jalan listed rooms from ¥24,000 for two in October 2026.
