Onna

Onna stretches 27.4 km along the coast and only 4.2 km inland, and mountains cover most of it, so the villages sit where small rivers meet the sea. People in Shuri and Naha once called it Chika-Yanbaru, near Yanbaru, because it was the closest part of the northern hills. The boundary between northern and central-southern Okinawan dialects falls between Onna village and Tancha.

Its best-known sights are its headlands: Cape Manzamo's grass-topped cliffs and Cape Maeda, where snorkellers climb down to the Blue Cave. Onna no Eki Nakayukui Market in Nakadomari is the village's farm market and snack stop, and Matsunoshita serves soki soba above the Manzamo gate.
