The shrine sits on a rise above the sea, one of the eight Ryukyu shrines, and below it the city's beach curves between the cliff and the Naha West Road bridge. Wakasa runs inland from the beach and Tsuji along the shore to the south, and between them are the Wakasa seaside park and the Naminoue Umisora Park, with barbecue areas and a diving spot along about 1.9 km of the west coast.
Steak House 88's main branch in Tsuji stays open until 2:00. Takara Shokudo in Wakasa feeds the neighbourhood from 10:30, and Fukushuen's Chinese garden is a short walk east in Kume.
