Karakara to Chibuguwa

Karakara is the round ceramic jug that pours awamori, and the name adds chibuguwa for the little cup that kusu is sipped from. Mapple counts about 100 labels running from new spirit to kusu aged 40 years. A March 2026 Tabelog reviewer notes that the owner once edited an awamori magazine and now heads the Ryukyu Awamori Club. The same reviewer describes a calm, bar-like room where people drink quietly.

Food here goes well past snacks. That reviewer worked through sukugarasu tofu topped with salted baby rabbitfish, a sashimi plate of local tuna and shichu-machi, and squid-ink somen tashiya before the house Karakara soba, and the bill came to ¥5,000–6,000 a head. The same reviewer adds that an Orion T-shirt and a flower behind the ear would look out of place, so dress for a grown-up night.
