Yoron Town is Kagoshima Prefecture's southernmost town and covers all of Yoron-jima, with its office in Chabana and its beaches and castle ruins spread around a 23.7 km coast.

One island makes one town here. Yoron Town governs the whole of Yoron-jima from its office in Chabana, and its districts include Chabana, Ritcho, Mugiya, Furusato, Nama and Asato. Wikipedia's figure for April 2022 is 5,061 people.
The town has a few habits a visitor notices. New and renovated public buildings are painted white in the style of its sister city, Mykonos, and the island still keeps the lunar calendar for its festivals, the Yoron Jugoya Odori among them. Outside Chabana the island is farmland and small beaches, with the sandbar at Yurigahama off the east coast and the castle ruins on the high ground in the south-west.
The town's port is at Ritcho on the west coast, next to the airport, and neither has buses or taxis waiting, so the first job on arrival is the pick-up you arranged.
